Eriksen has been targeted by Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund

EriksenAjax coach Frank de Boer insists he will not prevent Christian Eriksen from joining Liverpool this summer if the midfielder requests a move to the Premier League side.

Eriksen, 21, has a year remaining on his contract with the Dutch club, but has been strongly linked with a move to either Liverpool or Borussia Dortmund.

The Denmark international's agent last week confirmed Eriksen is in talk with a number of clubs, although a move away from the Amsterdam ArenA has not yet been confirmed.

With Eriksen reluctant to sign a contract extension, the Eredivisie champions could be forced into selling their star to avoid him leaving on a free next season.

De Boer suggested Liverpool are now in the box seat to sign the playmaker after Henrikh Mkhitaryan joined Dortmund, claiming he will not stand in the way of the Reds' approach.

"It is up to Christian what he wants," De Boer said, according to Sky Sports. "If he feels good going to Liverpool, then it is up to him. I would want nothing more than having him with us for a few more years.

"But we realise the interest in this kind of player is huge. And I can also understand that he wants to make another step in his career. I can't stop him."
